How to Deal with the Emotional Stresses of Parenting

Being a parent can be very hard emotionally. You can become really stressed and feel like you are going crazy. Let’s look at some ways to deal with the emotional aspects of parenting girls.

When your children are little they break things all the time, make huge messes, and still are the cutest things in the world. As children grow up, they make even bigger messes and break even bigger things but they are still the cutest things in the world.

When you were a young parent, you probably got stressed out sometimes and would just go relax in a room at the end of the day. You would take a nap while your young child napped if you were really worn out and stressed so that you just absolutely had to. When your kids are older, you are usually so busy that being able to take a nap is something you only dream about.

Since you are so busy during this time, take time at night to discuss with your spouse what went on that day. If night time doesn’t work make sure you find time to discuss your children and what they are doing at a time when you can speak privately. Use this time to figure out what to do if your daughter wants to do something you aren’t sure about. Use this time to let go of stress and just relax. Talking about things usually helps to relieve stress and built up emotions.

If you are feeling really stressed during the day, make a phone call to a friend or family member. They will be there to offer advice or just to listen. Don’t underestimate them because friends are wonderful at making us feel better and giving advice from a different point of view. Talking about the issues will help to solve them. By just sitting there and letting your emotions build up, you are making the problem worse. Eventually you will blow up and you will end up in a huge fight with your daughter that you could’ve avoided.

Parenting girls doesn’t just take a few years. It really lasts from the day you decide to start trying for a baby to the day you die. You will always be a parent. You will always be making decisions based around your children. That doesn’t have to be a bad thing. But make sure that every once in a while, say once a week or month, you take some time for yourself. Go on a date with your husband every week; it will keep your relationship strong and give you time alone away from your children to just have fun together. Get your nails done, go out for lunch with some friends, have a picnic, or just go for a walk. You don’t have to do something expensive or for hours, just make sure you set aside time for yourself so that you can reenergize yourself for the rest of the week and feel refreshed and ready to be a wonderful parent again.

Parenting girls comes with talks about boys, late nights crying about something that happened at school, telling your daughter she looks beautiful, and so much more. It can be overwhelming. Just think back to when you found out you were pregnant. You were so excited and then started worrying about everything that you had to do. Don’t let yourself get worked up. Just relax. Parenting doesn’t have to make you worry all the time. Of course you will worry a lot, but relax yourself and then figure out how to fix a problem. Trying to figure out a problem when you are stressed out will only make the problem worse.

    Yes, parenting is stressful – a lot of new Moms are not prepared for what is about to happen to them!
    I believe that good parenting starts with looking after yourself first – then you are much better equipped to look after everyone else in the family.
    Moms tend to forget this or feel guilty about taking time out for themselves – and so the stresses multiply.
