Five Trends in Baby Gear

Babies need a lot of stuff; let’s take a look at some of the latest trends in baby gear:

Boppy: A Boppy is a pillow used to support the baby comfortably when a mom nurses, and then later is used to help support the baby as they learn to sit on their own. These pillows also offer a variety of covers in different prints and colors, and they are washable. This makes them very convenient, and you can buy one pillow, and different covers in different colors or patterns to fit your mood, your baby’s gender or whatever.

Gender specific gear: One of the popular trends right now is to avoid the gender neutral stuff, and get something that says, “I have a girl.” Pinks and blues are not as popular as they were a few years ago, but buying a car seat with a girl theme, rather than a theme that suits both boys and girls is more popular. Most people are not trying to buy baby stuff that will work for all of their babies, rather they buy cribs that will convert to toddler beds, etc. so that their child can use them for several years. So, getting specific with gender is not a problem because the gear bought is for that specific child.

Strollers: While strollers have been popular baby gear to buy, as they make things like shopping and walking with a baby far easier, the trends in strollers have changed. The two most popular trends in strollers include buying jogging strollers in order to involve baby in your attempt at fitness. There are many varieties, but the main thing is that they have large wheels that make them easy to push and steer while running. The other popular strollers are those that fold up as small as possible to make them easy to take in the car, trunk, on a plane and so on.

Accessories: The big thing for baby gear this year is all of the extras. Accessories, from bracelets and hair bows for baby girls, to pacifier holders, designer pacifiers, and personalized sippy cups or bottles for both boys and girls, are all the rage. In addition to cribs, car seats, and strollers you have to get the cup holder that hangs on the stroller handle bars, the feet warmer that sits in the car seat, and the mobiles, etc. that go on the crib. The extras and accessories are all the rage, and the big trend for baby gear this year.

Fashion trends: When it comes to baby gear, one of the biggest trends for the year is in that of their clothing. It once was that you dressed your baby up in characters, pastels, and made them look like babies, with ruffles, bows, and puppy dogs. Today the trend is to dress your baby like a mini-adult, having them wear pea coats, designer jeans, and shoes with every outfit. While some of the really “baby” clothes remain, like the sleepers, and other PJs, as far as what your baby wears when you go out in public, it needs to be hip for an adult as well as a child.
