Facials are a great way to clean your skin, and leave it fresh and rejuvenated. A facial at a salon takes about an hour, and is often fairly expensive. However, the benefits of a facial are worth the time and the expense. Regardless, if you want to get a facial, and enjoy the benefits without the cost and time, consider giving yourself a facial at home. Here are some steps to a five minute facial.
Step one: Prepare the things you need. You need a mild cleanser with an exfoliate, a face mask, a wet washcloth that is hot, and moisturizer. Set everything up on your bathroom counter. Get a washcloth and get it wet, then stick it in your microwave for a minute or so until steam is coming off of it.
Step two: Wash your face in warm water using a mild face wash with an exfoliate like almond scrub, or something similar. When applying your face wash and exfoliate, be careful with your facial skin, as it is sensitive. You don’t want to pull, rub, or put too much pressure on it, as this can cause wrinkle patterns to form. Thoroughly rinse all of the soap and exfoliate off.
Step three: Take your hot washcloth out of the microwave, and put it on your face. The heat and steam from the washcloth will help your pores open up so that your face mask can pull all of the dead skin, bacteria, etc. out of it and leave your face clean and smooth. Just be careful not to burn your face. If you are worried about using the microwave, you can get the same effects by filling a clean sink with hot water, and holding your face above the steam, or by dipping a washcloth into it and patting it onto your face.
Step four: Apply a face mask according to the mask directions. Let it dry, and wear it for the set amount of time. When it is time to remove it, you can use the same washcloth from earlier. Gently wipe away the face mask, and pat your face dry using a clean, dry, cloth. Your face should be feeling smooth, taut, and clean.
Step five: Moisturize. You have pulled moisture, and oil, from your skin, so help your skin regain its natural moisture by applying a specially formulated facial moisturizer. Do not use lotions, rather something designed specifically for the face. You may also want to use an eye cream for the skin around your eyes, which is the most sensitive and requires a creamier product for optimal results.
Now your skin should be looking and feeling radiant. You can enjoy this once a month, or every two weeks if your skin needs it that often. If you find that your skin could use some revitalization, go ahead and do an extra facial.
