Featured Blogger Guide

Welcome to the Surf Net Parents Featured Bloggers program. As a Featured Blogger you get attributed on social media whenever your posts are shared (via @your-twitter), you have your own author page listing all your articles, have easy access to modify the bio that appears on all your posts,  and get priority over guest bloggers when it comes to post scheduling, and you get “dofollow” links to your own blog.

Thank you for being part of Surf Net Parents. I look forward to your feedback on the redesign (and rebirth) of Surf Net Parents.

~~ Barbara J. Feldman barbara@surfnetparents.com

Logging In

  1. Use your email address to login to our WordPress control panel: https://www.surfnetparents.com/wp-admin
  2. To set your password, use the “Lost Password” link.

Your Profile and Social Shares

  1. To modify the bio that appears at the bottom of your posts, edit your “Biography” on your profile page.  Although all other external links on the site are “no follow”, the links in your bio (which appear on each of your posts, your post archive, and on our Featured Bloggers page) are “do follow”.
  2. We use Gravatar images. To change the photo that displays with your bio on your posts, modify the Gravatar image associated with your email address
  3. If you add your Twitter account and Facebook URL  (on your profile page, under the heading “Social Warfare”) whenever your posts are shared, you will be credited as the author.  For example, each tweet will say  “via @your-twitter”.

Submitting Posts

  1. To post a new article, login to our WordPress control panel and click +New in the admin bar at the top of the page, or from the left-hand menu, go to Posts / New.  To save a post in draft mode (before it is ready for submission), use the white “Save” mode and your new post will remain in draft status.
  2. When you are completed with a post, click  the blue “Submit for Review” button.
  3. You can see all your posts on the All Posts admin page.
  4. Once a post is published, you will not be able to edit it further. If you need an edit to a published post, please contact me at https://www.ReplyToBarbara.com or barbara@surfnetparents.com.
  5. You are welcome to choose a Featured Image for your post, simply upload one by clicking on “Featured Image” while in Post Edit screen. Images should be horizontal, with a minimum size of 720×40.
  6. On the Post Edit screen, are buttons for two FREE photo collections: Instant Images (look for it above the editor) and ImageInject (look for it below the editor). Feel free to select a photo from either, or upload your own (as long as you have rights to do so.)
  7. You will get an email notification when your submitted post is received for review and another email when your post scheduled to be published.
  8. Social sharing and promotion is not required, but always appreciated!

Alternative Way to Submit Posts

  1. If you don’t want to bother with logging into WordPress, you can still submit via our Guest Blogger form.   You won’t have as much control over editing your post after you submit it, but if it’s easier for you, then this is fine.

Link Policy

  1. You may link to quality websites within your blog posts.
  2. All external links will be automatically “nofollow” except those in your author bio (which appears on all your posts, on your post archive page, and on our Featured Bloggers page.
