Going to the spa can be extremely expensive. You don’t have to buy the most expensive facial or massage, but then even the cheapest ones aren’t cheap. Here are some tips for having a great day at the spa, without breaking the bank.
First of all, have your spa day at your own house. It will save you tons of money and then you won’t feel guilty about taking some time for yourself and wasting a bunch of money. Moms need some time alone and for themselves. It’s a known fact. They are worked so hard and are always doing things for other people and their family. So let yourself have a day to relax and enjoy everything.
You can buy salon and spa stuff everywhere. Just go to the beauty section and buy some bubble bath, a foot massager, and anything else that looks great. You don’t have to buy everything they have, but look to see what will really make yourself relax and feel rejuvenated. Don’t forget to buy some candles too!
Buy some food that they would normally serve at a spa. If you’ve never been to the spa before, don’t worry, many people haven’t. Just buy some light food, like a special salad, fruit, or smoothie mix. Make sure that it doesn’t have too many calories and or grams of fat because you don’t want to feel bloated or too full on your spa day. Buy stuff for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
If your kids are all in school, then start your spa day the second they get on the bus and end it the minute they get home. If your kids aren’t in school all day, or want a little more time, don’t worry you deserve an entire day besides just Mother’s Day. Hire a babysitter. Drop them off at grandma’s or a friend’s house. If you and another mom want to, watch each other’s kids one day while the other one has a spa day and then switch. It will be a great opportunity for both of you.
Schedule or write down what you want to do. Don’t be so strict to follow the schedule because remember the day is for you to relax not to stick to a schedule and worry. By planning what you are going to do, you won’t be stuck figuring out what to do next or find out that you needed something and forgot to buy it.
Eat your breakfast that you have bought and then start into whatever you have planned. Do yoga or pilates. I love pilates because they not only relax you but they also give you a great workout and help to really tone your body. You don’t have to do some sort of exercise routine but don’t spend the entire day in the bathtub.
Do everything you want to do. If your husband will, ask him to give you a massage. Many people don’t know how to do it the proper way, so get a book and learn. It is one of the most important things to do when you want to relax, so don’t skimp on it. End the day still relaxing and not doing a bunch of errands or running around. Keep the relaxing feel and don’t undo what you just did by getting busy all of a sudden.
Having a relaxing day is really important. Moms get run down and need time to themselves in order to stay sane. Have your husband or friends help you have a great day. And in return do the same for them.
